Summer is just around the corner and we know you’re gearing up for those summer plans. With the kids out of school, and endless amounts of sunshine we’ve created your ultimate family-friend summer bucket list in Houston. Whether it’s a Texas-sized fireworks show, or a day exploring NASA, it doesn’t get more “Houston” than this!

Houston Zoo

Did you know the Houston Zoo is the second most visited Zoo in the US, and the most-attended cultural attraction in the area? The Houston Zoo hosts over 6,000 animals and has countless exhibits to excite the kids. For extra thrills, they offer animal encounters that allow you to see animals up close while financially helping protect animals in the wild.

Downtown Aquarium

Head to the Downtown Aquarium for those rainy days when you just need to get out of the house. With a Ferris wheel, white tiger exhibit, and an entire restaurant, you can spend the whole day exploring and discovering underwater creatures as a family. This 500,000 gallon Aquarium is sure to ignite that sense of wonder for you and your kids.

Astros Game

Nothing says summer nights quite like sitting at Minute Maid Park and watching your favorite World Series winners. The Astros are beloved by all Houstonians, and for good reason! Catch a Saturday night game and make family memories with the sights and sounds of a ballgame. You may even catch a glimpse and get to take a picture with their adorable alien mascot, Orbit.

Freedom Over Texas Festival

Looking for 4th of July plans? The Freedom Over Texas Festival is Houston’s official 4th of July celebration with six hours of festivities for the whole family. End the night with a “Texas-sized” fireworks finale that is choreographed to music!

Johnson Space Center

Houston, do we have a problem? Not with this summer bucket list! And it isn’t a summer in Houston without a visit to the Johnson Space Center. As the NASA headquarters for human spaceflight activity for more than half a century, this attraction is unlike anything else. See rockets, the original Mission Control room, and get an incredible behind-the-scenes look at NASA. With the world’s largest collection of moon rocks and lunar samples, this place is truly out of this world.
